Rakaskop

Rakaskop, 37 min (15.8 km) via Savagaon Road(from Belgavi).
Some 16 km away from Belgaum, located the Rakaskop which means “Village of Demon”.
As per legend, villagers believe that a demon lived in the hillock nearby the village.
Also they state that the huge laterite which looks like a human seated is the example for the demon dwelled in the hillock.
Nearby the village river Markendya is flowing across which a water reservoir was built and used for water supply.
The Rakaskop reservoir is on the verge of getting dry as there has been very less rain in this month.
Still there is about 5 feet of water after which it will come to its lowest level.
If there is no rain in the coming days city could be in for some more water cuts.
