This Traditional Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva,One of the three mighty gods in Hindu Mythology.
There are two fundamental sanctuaries of Lord Shiva here, one to Omkareshwar situated in the island and one to Amareshwar situated on the south bank of Narmada River on the terrain. As per Hindu legend, Vindya, the god controlling the Vindyachal mountain run was loving Shiva to satisfy himself from the transgressions submitted.
He made a holy geometrical outline and a Lingam made of sand and mud.
Shiva was satisfied with the worhip and accepted to have showed up in two structures, to be specific Omkareshwar and Amaleswara.
Since the mud hill showed up as Om, the island came to be known as Omkareswar.
There is a hallowed place for Parvati and five-confronted Ganapathi in the sanctuary.
