Battle of Panipat memorial society set up by the government of Haryana highlights the major events that took place for over 200 years which made Panipat a place of great historical importance.
The Panipat Museum is the most popular attraction of Panipat, situated at 5 km from the Canal Rest House of Binijhol.
This museum was established with the main purpose of imparting information about the three legendary battles of Panipat held in 1526, 1556 and 1761.
It also displays archaeology, history and artefacts of Panipat in the form of antiquities, inscriptions, paintings, sculptures, armoury, pottery, jewellery, art and craft objects, valuable documents, maps, write-ups, and photographs.
It also has ceramics of the region of Haryana in the form of clay deposits. Several local religious displays also form a part of Panipat museum.
An attempt has been made by this museum to depict the bravery of a few patriotic heroes, who sacrificed their life in the battles of Panipat.
These warriors include Samrat Hem Chandra Vikramaditya, Raja Surja Mal, Vikramaditya, Sher Shah Suri, Sadashiv Rao Bhau, Vishwas Rao Peshwa and Tukuj Shinde.
A few important miniatures are also present in the galleries of this museum in the form of enlarged photos of Babur-Nama and Akbar-Nama.

The museum provides an insight into the lives and achievements of the warriors in Panipat and also throws light on their sacrifices.
The collection highlights tales of historic rulers such as Samrat Hem Chandra Vikramaditya-a local hero who belonged to Haryana, Raja Surja Mal of Bharatpur, Vikramaditya (Vikramaditya) of Gwalior, Maharaja of Patiala, Sher Shah Suri, Sadashiv Rao Bhau, Vishwas Rao Peshwa, and Tukuj Shinde, Mughal Emperor Babur and Akbar.
Collections have been assembled from the Delhi National Museum, The British Library, Victoria and Albert Museum of London. Weapons, armory, guns, etc. have been assimilated from the Archaeological Survey of India who is associated with the Panipat museum.
The findings from the excavations have also been displayed in the museum. Pictures and paintings of old buildings, battle fields and important events are exhibited in the museum. The traditional craft items of the city have also been displayed that adds further glory to the museum making it a complete tourist and educational attraction.
Tourists wonder at the amazing collection in the museum and get the feel of living a life in the ancient time.
The Panipat museum is designed as such to disseminate the knowledge and information about archaeology, history, art and craft of Haryana with special emphasis on battle of Panipat.
The display of antiquities, inscriptions, sculptures, arms and armours, pottery, jewellery and old valuable documents has been augmented by maps, write-ups, photographs and translides etc.
It is an attempt to provide an insight into the arts of bravery of some violent and patriotic warriors who sacrificed their lives at Panipat.
Department of archaeology and museums, Haryana is also associated with this project and has donated a large number of items for the display in the museum.
The place attracts the history freaks who take deep interest in exploring the pages of the past remarkable battles held t that place.

It displays antiquities, inscription, sculptures, arms and armours, Pottery, old and valuable documents, jewellery and art and craft objects aided by modern maps, write-ups photographs and translides. Some war-heroes documented in the museum are Samrat Hem Chandra Vikramaditya-a local hero who belonged to Haryana, Raja Surja Mal of Bharatpur, Vikramaditya (Vikramajit) of Gwalior, Maharaja of Patiala, Sher Shar Suri, Sadashiv Rao Bhau, Vishwas Rao Peshwa, and Tukuj Shinde. Enlarged photographs of a large number of important miniatures, mostly from Babur-Nama and Akbar-Nama, relating to these battles and personalities connected therewith, have been obtained from the National Museum of New Delhi, The British Library, Victoria and Albert Museum of London. A Large number of contemporary weapons, armoury, guns, etc. have been acquired through loan from the Archaeological Survey of India as well. Best time to visit the place.
